Connect an assistant

tidee can be connected to an AI assistant, so you can add things to your workspace without leaving the conversation you are already having. Say “add that to my tidee” and it lands in your Backlog, filed and dated.

This works through MCP, an open standard for connecting assistants to tools. Any assistant that supports it can connect — Claude Desktop, Claude Code, and others.

Connecting

In your assistant, add a connector pointing at:

https://app.tidee.com/mcp

Your assistant will open tidee in your browser and ask you to approve the connection. You will see what the application is asking to do — adding items, reading them, or completing them — and you can approve or cancel. You never copy a password or a key.

In Claude, on the web or the desktop app, open Settings → Connectors, choose Add custom connector, and paste the address above.

In Claude Code, that is one command:

claude mcp add --scope user --transport http tidee https://app.tidee.com/mcp

--scope user makes tidee available in every project. Without it, Claude Code only connects it in the folder you ran the command from. Then run /mcp, choose tidee, and approve the connection in your browser.

What an assistant can do

  • Add items from ordinary language. “Book the MOT and call Sam about Friday” becomes two items, in the right boxes, with any dates set.
  • Add one item with exact wording. Put the title in quotes and it is kept word for word.
  • Read your boxes and items, so it can answer “what have I got on this week?”.
  • Mark things done.

An assistant only gets the permissions you approved on that screen. If you approve adding items but not completing them, it cannot complete them.

Seeing and removing connections

Open Application Settings → Integrations on the web, or the Connected applications row in the Account tab on mobile. Every connected application is listed with what it can do and when it was last used.

Disconnect takes effect immediately — not at the end of the day, and not when a token expires. The application stops being able to reach your workspace straight away.

A word on trust

Anyone can build an application that connects to tidee; that openness is what lets your assistant connect at all. It also means an application chooses its own name, and we cannot verify it.

So the consent screen tells you what an application says it is. Only continue if you started the connection yourself, and if the permissions it is asking for match what you expect it to do.

Captures count

Items added through an assistant count towards your plan exactly as items added in the app do. On the free plan that is 50 items in total. If you reach the limit, the assistant will tell you the item was not saved.

For developers

If you are building something, the API reference covers the public endpoints, OAuth 2.1 and the scope model.

For an assistant that cannot connect over HTTP, the same tools are published on npm as tidee-mcp, a local server that runs over stdio with a personal access token.
